Basic Science Research
The basic science research programs of the Division are housed on the top floors of the Diabetes Research and Education Building. Besides medical and research fellows, graduate students earning their Ph.D.’s participate in the varied research programs. The research interests include basic and clinical investigation focusing on:
- molecular basis of diabetic complications
- the mechanisms of hormonal control of growth and growth factor production
- the mechanisms of growth hormone action
- control of gene transcription
- regulation of gene expression by glucose
- the cost effectiveness of various insulin initiation schemes in diabetics
